‘Firearm training’ zoning amendment is approved
ORT owners Ricky and Tricia Abbott of Jamaica District plan to offer firearms training and requested the zoning amendment. The training school is on 124 acres off Route 17 behind Union Shiloh Baptist Church at Jamaica. The Middlesex County Planning Commission approved the amendment request at its September meeting.

New director seeks to continue progress of Library
imageThe Middlesex County Public Library has hired Ralph G. Oppenheim as its new director. Oppenheim comes from the Cabell County Public Library in Huntington, W.Va., where he was responsible for collection development, selection in fiction, and all non-print media.

Markers would honor Morgan and St. Clare Walker
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors has tabled a decision on how much funding the county will provide to install historical road markers recognizing the accomplishments of African-Americans John Henry St. Clare Walker and Irene Morgan.
