Schools open Tuesday
The school bell will ring on Tuesday, September 8, for approximately 1,210 students of the Middlesex County Public School System. It’s been a busy summer for administrators, teachers and staff who are ready for the first day of classes at all three schools on September 8.

On August 28, Rappahannock District Methodist trustee chairman Foster Lee emailed Barry Goodwin of All Saints Anglican Church that the trustees “have agreed to sell Centenary Church to another party.”

Numerous residents who live on State Route 619 (Healy’s Road) near Locust Hill voiced concerns over the road’s safety at a Middlesex County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday. Route 619 is a narrow, unmarked road that runs between Route 629 (Stormont Road) and Route 33 at Locust Hill.

Usually when an ordinance change is proposed, the section to be deleted is denoted with a “red line,” and the new language is written below the old section. The planners didn’t use this approach when they revised the ordinance. “We red lined the whole thing,” Friday told the audience at last week’s public hearing.
