‘Serenity’ to call Urbanna home
The Town of Urbanna and the 65-foot schooner “Serenity” have partnered to bring a unique sailing experience to the area. Serenity is now permanently home-ported at the Urbanna Town Marina at Upton’s Point, said Captain Laura Lohse.

About 200 baseball players and their coaches, fans and families from across Virginia will descend on Middlesex County over the next several days to take part in the Junior Little League State Tournament. The Middlesex Little League and District 15 are the hosts of the tournament, which will be played at the Middlesex Sports Complex at Locust Hill.

Captain Billy Hudnall came home to Urbanna in June after piloting a tug 6,000 miles from Massachusetts to Romania. His cargo was a barge carrying a dismantled 3,800-ton crane nicknamed “Goliath,” which will be reassembled at the Daewoo Shipyard in Romania on the Black Sea. The addition of Goliath made Daewoo the largest shipyard in Europe.

On Monday, July 20, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) granted Middlesex County’s request to postpone action on a permit for the proposed Saluda wastewater treatment plant.
The State Water Control Board (SWCB) was scheduled to consider the permit application on Thursday, July 23.
