Board not ready to commit to treatment plant
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors is not ready to consider building a sewage treatment plant to serve the middle portion of the county, but wants to keep the communication lines open on the matter with the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD).

Reassessment work begins
Middlesex County Supervisors have voted to hire Wampler-Eanes Appraisal Group of Daleville, which is near Roanoke, to conduct the 2012 general reassessment of county real estate. Middlesex and Essex counties are conducting their reassessments together in a regional effort to save on costs.

Emergency services concerns discussed
More younger volunteers and more funding are needed to maintain quality rescue and fire protection in Middlesex County. That seemed to be the conclusion reached at a public meeting on local emergency services held Monday night at the historic courthouse in Saluda.
