Sheriff’s office cracks down on littering
Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey reported this week that a Gloucester woman was found guilty of littering on Monday in Middlesex General District Court. The woman did not appear for her trial and was found guilty and assessed a $250 fine plus court costs, said Bushey.

Throwing fireworks results in felony petition
A felony petition is being sought against a juvenile who allegedly threw fireworks from the window of a moving vehicle that struck another vehicle on May 27, reported Middlesex Sheriff’s Office investigator C.B. Sibley.

Urbanna considers revoking permit for 14 condos
Potomac Timber Investments #227 LLC “has not complied with terms and conditions” of a Special Use Permit (SUP) issued to permit construction of 14 condominiums on Urbanna Creek, states a motion approved by the Urbanna Planning Commission on May 24 that recommends the SUP be revoked by the Urbanna Town Council.

Final business between county and Joyce Engineering concluded
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted on May 15 to pay Joyce Engineering $26,761 for services rendered from December 2011 through March 2012. Saluda District supervisor Pete Mansfield had questioned earlier whether the county was getting its money’s worth from Joyce, which eventually played a role in Joyce terminating its work at the landfill.
