VMRC wants sunken barge removed from Urbanna Creek
The Virginia Marine Police will be seeking a court order to force the owner or owners to raise a sunken barge on Urbanna Creek, said John Bull, director of public relations with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC). According to Bull, the barge is registered to Urbanna Yachting Center Sales and Service LLC, the owner of the marina where the barge sank.

Stamm named MES principal
The Middlesex County School Board had a busy closed session Monday night that resulted in considerable action on personnel matters. The board named Amy Stamm, the current assistant principal at Middlesex Elementary School (MES), as the new principal starting July 1 at MES.

‘Stuck’ kittens rescued; foster homes are sought
imageTwo kittens who were rescued after being “stuck” in a storage room at a marina are looking for a home. Middlesex chief animal control officer Ricky Warren said the 5-week-old kittens got into a glue-like substance, and when they were found they were coated with the sticky substance and couldn’t move because their back legs were stuck together.

Body found near Norris bridge has been identified
LANCASTER—The body of an elderly woman that was recovered near the Robert O. Norris Jr. Bridge about 10:30 a.m. May 10 has been identified as Patricia W. Taylor, 77, a resident of a Manassas area assisted living facility, reported Capt. Martin Shirilla of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
