Whiting Creek to get new public dock
Since Colonial days, Whiting Creek at Locust Hill has provided a safe haven for boats, even though it is shallow and small. The creek is named for Colonel Henry Whiting who moved to Middlesex in the 1700s and lived in a home on the creek.

Sheriff’s office cracks down on littering
Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey reported this week that a Gloucester woman was found guilty of littering on Monday in Middlesex General District Court. The woman did not appear for her trial and was found guilty and assessed a $250 fine plus court costs, said Bushey.

Throwing fireworks results in felony petition
A felony petition is being sought against a juvenile who allegedly threw fireworks from the window of a moving vehicle that struck another vehicle on May 27, reported Middlesex Sheriff’s Office investigator C.B. Sibley.

Urbanna considers revoking permit for 14 condos
Potomac Timber Investments #227 LLC “has not complied with terms and conditions” of a Special Use Permit (SUP) issued to permit construction of 14 condominiums on Urbanna Creek, states a motion approved by the Urbanna Planning Commission on May 24 that recommends the SUP be revoked by the Urbanna Town Council.
