Jamaica man charged with attempted rape
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office reported that in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 17, the office received a call to respond to the Urbanna area on a report of an attempted rape and abduction.

Unveiling of “Signatures in Time” is Sunday
image“Signatures In Time—A Living History of Middlesex County, Virginia” will be released this Sunday, November 18, at an unveiling ceremony at Rosegill Plantation, just outside of Urbanna, from 3-5 p.m. The book is a six-year project completed by the Middlesex County Jamestown 2007 Book Committee.

In honor of Lt. General Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller
imagePuller is the most decorated Marine in the 237-year history of the U.S. Marines, which was founded on November 10, 1775. Puller was born in West Point in 1898 and retired to Saluda. He died in 1971.

Oysters continue comeback
The news is good! Virginia oysters appear to be making a formidable comeback. VMRC public relations director John Bull noted that last year 236,000 bushels were harvested commercially from the Virginia portion of Chesapeake Bay. This year there are indications the harvest will be over 250,000 bushels.
