Sewage permit hearing postponed
A decision on the proposed Saluda wastewater treatment plant will be delayed at least until June to give the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) time to study land application as a means of disposing of treated wastewater from Urbanna and Saluda.

New subdivisions with 25 or more dwellings now must have central water and fire hydrants. New subdivisions with 50 or more dwellings are required to provide central sewer, and all dwellings are required to hook onto the sewer system.

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors recently approved an ordinance requiring central water and sewer for new major subdivisions with a certain number of dwellings. County planner Matt Walker said the purpose of the ordinance is to clarify and increase water and sewer easement requirements for major subdivisions.
