Roaming dogs again a town issue
Nuisance dogs have at least one Urbanna resident calling for a leash law. On July 24, town resident Diane Gravatt wrote a scathing letter to the Urbanna Town Council pointing out enforcement problems with the current town animal ordinance. Attempts in the past to enact a leash law in town have brought considerable opposition.

Another black bear sighting occurred Tuesday, August 11, this time at Lucy's Cove in Deltaville. The bear was spotted in the yard of Tuna and Beverly Norris, where it played a game of chase with the family dog, a Mountain Feist named Bo.

A black bear was spotted at 2:45 p.m. Monday, August 17, just east of Saluda. Melinda Hart and her family were sitting in their living room when Melinda's sister-in-law, Corrina Hart, saw the black bear in their front yard. Melinda grabbed her camera and photographed the bear before it headed toward a neighbor's house.

A large black bear raided bird feeders and looked for other food in the yard of Dick and Carol Clark on Healy Creek in Deltaville on Friday, August 14. The bear also bent a wrought iron hummingbird feeder stand to the ground, and apparently tried to push over a 5-foot-tall air conditioning compressor.
