Electric lines to be buried
imageDominion Virginia Power will replace overhead electricity distribution lines at the Piankatank River bridge and bury them under the river, said Dominion external affairs manager Jen Kostyniuk. Kostyniuk explained the H-frame wooden towers were erected in the 1960s. They are being replaced with underground electric lines as a proactive measure.

Dr. Lane appointed school superintendent
imageThe Middlesex County School Board voted unanimously Monday evening to appoint Dr. James Lane as the next superintendent for Middlesex County Public Schools. Dr. Lane has worked in Middlesex County for three years, serving as assistant superintendent of instruction for the past two years and one year as principal of St. Clare Walker Middle School.
