BZA votes 3-1 to block marina repairs
The Urbanna Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) upheld a decision by town zoning administrator Lewis Filling on Monday that stopped Potomac Timber from rebuilding the marina at Urbanna Yachting Center.

Trustees of the Rappahannock District of the United Methodist Church attempted for about three years to find a solution as to what to do with the Centenary United Methodist Church building in Saluda, said trustees chairman Foster Lee of West Point this week. And, in June, the trustees decided to tear the church down, said Lee.

The Middlesex County School Board voted on July 29 to appoint Dr. James Lane as interim assistant superintendent of schools for the upcoming school year. Dr. Lane will maintain his primary role as principal at St. Clare Walker Middle School, but will also assume some division-wide instructional responsibilities. Dr. Lane will assume the duties of former assistant superintendent Rashard J. Wright, who resigned in June to become principal of Kecoughtan High School.
