Fire burns 524 acres at Jamaica
“They (homeowners) were burning debris earlier in the week and thought they had the fire out,” said Collier. “On Saturday, they noticed it was smoking and attempted to put it out, but the wind made it jump into the woods.” The fire was first reported at 12:10 p.m. Saturday.

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed on February 15 to raise land-use taxation application fees by $5. Supervisors also voted to require landowners receiving land-use taxation to revalidate their eligibility every four years instead of the current six years.
