21-mile car chase ends safely
As the chase continued north on Route 17, Captain Green gave the command to "pit" the vehicle, whereby a patrol car pushes on a rear corner to spin it out. Deputy Miller tried to pit the vehicle several times and finally spun it out. Police took the driver into custody about 9 miles north of the Middlesex-Essex county line just before Dunnsville.

Dogs have always been free to roam in Urbanna, but those days appear numbered. Nuisance dogs have motivated the Urbanna Town Council to consider requiring dogs to be under control of a person, either by leash or voice.

However, the school system was one school short in meeting division-wide federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standards under the federal “No Child Left Behind” initiative.
