Middlesex may need 4-cent tax hike
Some county officials had earlier indicated that no tax increase would be needed to build the Syd Thrift Sports Complex because a certain amount of debt was going to be retired before a new loan for the complex was obtained. This week Culley said, “What we found as we forecasted projected cash flow over the next four years was that we could not make it past next year."

Urbanna resident reports sediment in his tap water
Don Loop said the town’s water pipes near his Park Street residence have been repaired four times in the two-block section since 2007. When repairs are made, scale from the old galvanized pipes comes out of the cold water side of his faucet, he noted.

Sheriff’s Report: February 27 – March 11
Middlesex Sheriff David Bushey reported the following incidents occurred between February 27 and March 11. Arrests have been made in some cases and the others are being investigated.

Board votes 4-0 to build sports complex at MHS
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Tuesday to borrow $3,530,000 to build the Syd Thrift Sports Complex at Middlesex High School and fund the purchase of property adjacent to the closed county landfill at Stormont. The board agreed to borrow $530,000 from the VRA for the landfill land and $3 million from the VPSA for the sports complex.
