Jackson Creek needs dredging
The channel at the mouth of Jackson Creek in Deltaville is narrowing and officials met last week at Deltaville Boat Yard to discuss the possibility of having the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers widen the entrance, reported supervisor Carlton Revere at a September 21 board meeting.

Counties may only enact a meals tax if approved by voters in a binding referendum. The exact wording of the referendum on the ballot reads: “Should the Board of Supervisors levy a Food and Beverage Tax within Middlesex County, Virginia?”

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors is considering creating a local Sesquicentennial Committee to join the State of Virginia in the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Middlesex has a colorful Civil War history which, if promoted properly, could be beneficial to the county.
