Coyote activity has been reported in the Remlik area where two were recently shot, one was hit by a car, and another one tried to carry off a small dog. With no natural enemies other than humans, the local coyote population is increasing.

The Middlesex Board of Supervisors approved changing the number of county voting districts from three to five by a 4-1 vote Tuesday night. Two new voting districts will be added and each of the five districts will have one representative on the board of supervisors.

The Urbanna Town Council will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2011-12 (FY12) budget on Monday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the town hall. There are no tax increases or pay raises for town employees in the proposed budget of $570,000 for FY12, which starts July 1.
