Area developers want to convert hotel into condos
Two Northern Neck partners have plans to convert the Liberty at Compass Quay Hotel on Urbanna Creek into 13-15 condominiums. The project will be called Oyster Harbor on Urbanna Creek. The hotel was foreclosed on this summer and is owned by the Bank of Lancaster.

Developer Gene Ruark of Deltaville has submitted an application to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to establish a “compensatory wetland and stream bank” at Healy’s Mill Pond off Stormont Road near Hartfield.

The deadline to register to vote in the November 2, 2010 election is Tuesday, October 12. Citizens may apply to register to vote at any of the 74 Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) customer service centers or 57 DMV Select locations throughout the state, or at their local registrar’s office (Woodward Building, Saluda).

After a summer of drought, the area got too much of a good thing September 26-30 when the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole dropped more than a foot of rain in Deltaville and 11.9 inches in Saluda, as measured by Middlesex Extension Agent David Moore.
