Department of Health closes portions of the Bay to shellfish harvesting
The Virginia Department of Health announced today that the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay and west of and including the Virginia Inside Passage of the Eastern Shore will be closed to shellfish harvesting due to floodwaters caused by tidal flooding and excessive rainfall. The emergency closure is effective October 29, 2012.

Trick-or-Treat set for Oct. 31
imageMiddlesex County will observe Trick-or-Treat on Halloween day, Wednesday, October 31, said Middlesex Sheriff David Bushey. Homeowners who are participating in trick-or-treat should leave on an outside light as a signal to children that they are welcome, and turn off the porch light at 8 p.m., said Bushey.
