Fire at Warner leaves four homeless
Before firefighters could get water on a burning house on Warner Road, the second story collapsed. The fire was called in about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1. No one was home at the time, reported Ray Burch, chief of the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Urbanna.

Value of Middlesex real estate:  $2.2 billion
In 2011 Middlesex County underwent a county-wide reassessment of real estate, the values of which were used in the 2012 tax year. The reassessment was done by the appraisal firm Wampler-Eanes.

Terrell Boyd honored for being first African American Eagle Scout in Middlesex
imageWillie Terrell Boyd was honored by the Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society at a program on Sunday at the Historic Middlesex County courthouse. Boyd was the first African American Eagle Scout in Middlesex County history.

Mill Creek Landing closed for dredging
Last week the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) closed Mill Creek Landing at Wake on the Rappahannock River through April to dredge sand from the front and inside of the boat ramp and install sheet piling to inhibit further sand accumulation.
