Middlesex native experiences Japan’s devastating earthquake
On March 12, Hodges wrote the following account of the devastating earthquake that struck Japan last week. It should be noted that her account was written several days before the huge scale of the earthquake destruction was known.

The night of July 5, 2010 was traumatic. Rescue personnel were called to the worst local boating accident in recent memory. A 23-foot speed boat with 10 people aboard slammed into a fixed marker in the Rappahannock River about 1.5 miles from Water View. The Water View boat landing became the base for the rescue.

On Sunday, March 6, a micro-burst struck just west of Saluda near Town Bridge Road and Zion Branch Road. The high winds twisted off several trees, took a portion of a roof off, blew a window out of a home, and dropped a live power line across Route 17.
