Town of Urbanna repaid FEMA $94,500
On Monday Urbanna Town Attorney Andy Bury read a 7-page report to the Urbanna Town Council explaining why the town had to refund $94,500 to the VDEM. The lengthy report delves into the town’s accounting practices among other things.

Local firefighter helps hurricane victims in NYC
imageAs part of the VATF-2 task force team out of Virginia Beach, Lee Ward of Wake was activated and deployed recently to New York City to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. Ward has been a fireman for the City of Williamsburg for nearly 10 years, and a volunteer firefighter with the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department since 1993.

5 branches of the military named Christmas Parade grand marshals
The Urbanna Hometown Christmas Parade will be held on Friday evening, December 7—the 71st anniversary of the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Because of this, the grand marshals of the parade will be the five branches of the U.S. military.

Urbanna Town adminstrator resigns
John S. Bailey has resigned as Urbanna Town Administrator to take a position as manager of the Brandermill Community Association in Midlothian. The town council accepted his resignation at its meeting on November 19. Council member Boyd Wiley noted that Bailey has done “a good job.”
