‘Life savers’ are honorary grand marshals
imageThe Urbanna Oyster Festival Foundation has named Allison Payne and Greg Harrow as the Honorary Urbanna Oyster Festival Grand Marshals for the 54th annual festival set for November 4-5. The foundation is honoring Payne and Harrow for their efforts in saving the life of 5-year-old Sean West, son of Bonnie and Eugene West of Deltaville.

Downs is a write-in candidate for supervisor
Dan Downs of Hartfield announced this week he will run as a write-in candidate in the November 8 election for the newly-formed Harmony Village District seat on the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors. Jack Miller of Locust Hill, a current Saluda District supervisor, is also seeking the Harmony Village seat on the board of supervisors.

County requests timesheets from engineering firm
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on September 20 to request timesheets from Joyce Engineering sought through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by Saluda District supervisor Pete Mansfield. The timesheets are connected to $6,000 that Joyce Engineering charged the county when Mansfield drove to Richmond to meet with Joyce officials to discuss landfill issues.
