Public hearing on sewage plant is Wednesday
Public debate has brought out several sewage issues that will come up when the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) holds a public hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Clare Walker Middle School on Route 33 at Locust Hill.

‘Critical Harbor of Refuge’ status for Broad Creek
Middlesex County Administrator Charles Culley has been authorized to make a formal request to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to have Broad Creek in Deltaville be considered as a “Critical Harbor of Refuge.”

Guns, drugs and vehicle seized in Topping bust
A routine police call in Topping turned into a marijuana bust, and the arrest of two men, including a suspected felon who was wanted in Northumberland on a felony gun charge, reported the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.
