Oyster ‘essence’

His “must eat” foods included a fritter from the Middlesex Lions Club, oyster stew from the Aylett Country Day School booth, and roast beef.

Miss Lauren Figg and Emma Fairheart are Oyster Festival royalty
Lauren Figg was crowned Queen of the 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival and Emma Fairheart was crowned Little Miss Spat last Friday in Taber Park. As Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen, Figg received a $5,000 college scholarship. Emma Fairheart received a $150 savings bond.

Deborah Pratt dominates shucking contest
VIDEOS: Deborah Pratt of Middlesex County repeated as champion of the 2010 Virginia Oyster Shucking Contest, which was held Saturday at the 53rd Urbanna Oyster Festival. Pratt defeated the men's professional winner Jermaine Brokenborough of Chesterfield in the finals.
