Urbanna drops police services agreement
For the first time in 11 years, the Urbanna Town Council has not agreed to pay for extra police patrols in town. On Monday, a unanimous council voted to notify Middlesex County and Sheriff Guy Abbott that it will not be renewing the police services agreement between the town and county.

Middlesex County Administrator Charles Culley reported at a board of supervisors meeting Tuesday night it could take as much as an 8 to 10 cent real estate tax hike in the upcoming 2010-11 (FY11) fiscal year just to “level fund” the county budget and build cash flow.
