Oyster Festival will feature plenty of Rappahannock River oysters
For those coming to Urbanna Oyster Festival this weekend to enjoy juicy, fresh bivalves, there’s good news! Whether served roasted, fried or raw, most festival oysters are coming from the Rappahannock River. “The oystermen talk like there are going to be plenty of oysters there. That’s what we are counting on!” Walton said.

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors has scheduled public meetings to gather input from citizens on the proposed Syd Thrift Athletic Complex at Middlesex High School. The public meetings will be on Wednesday, November 9, at the Hartfield Firehouse and on Thursday, November 10, at Hermitage Baptist Church in Church View. The meetings begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System at approximately 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. The test will include transmission of a "live" Emergency Action Notification alert code to all EAS participants and a notice to the general public that the EAS has been activated for a national emergency.
