Middlesex to terminate machinery & tools tax
During a budget work session on Tuesday, February 5, the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors agreed to eliminate the county’s machinery and tools tax. “If we were the Town of West Point and had the paper mill, this tax would mean a great deal to our local government,” said county administrator Matt Walker.

Town receives grant to rebuild boat ramp
Urbanna has been awarded a $78,750 state grant to rebuild the boat ramp at the Urbanna Town Marina at Upton’s Point. The current ramp has developed a drop off at the end, due in part to boaters revving their engines to drive boats onto trailers.

Remembering Dr. Gwathmey
imageThe Deltaville historical home once owned by Dr. William R. Gwathmey and his wife Ora (Vaughan) Gwathmey was gutted by fire in December, 2012 and was razed last week. Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department chief Jimmy Walden said no one was living in the home at the time of the fire.
