Fire destroys Locust Hill home
imageState Police arson investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that destroyed a mobile home in the 300 block of Silver Ridge Road in Locust Hill on Thursday, Feb. 26, said Alan Blake, chief of the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Supervisor touts pump and haul sewage option

Daylight Savings Time To Begin

March snowstorm stuns Middlesex
imageMarch roared in like a lion Sunday night and Monday morning as a major winter storm came up the East Coast and dumped 4 to 6 inches of snow on top of ice in most areas of Middlesex. The storm was accompanied by high winds and frigid temperatures.

NAACP seeks to honor civil rights leader
imageLocal African American leaders have proposed that civil rights pioneer Irene Morgan be memorialized with a highway marker in Saluda near the site where she was arrested in 1944 for failing to move to the “colored” section at the back of a bus. Morgan’s landmark decision pre-dated the more-famous case of Rosa Parks, who in 1955 refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama.
