Board to discuss budget Tuesday
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday, March 24, at 1 p.m. to continue its discussion of the proposed 2009-10 (FY10) county budget. The meeting is open to the public.

Stimulus funds may help schools
Federal stimulus education funds totaling $283,500 may save several staff positions in the Middlesex County School System—at least in the upcoming 2009-10 (FY10) year. Even with the stimulus funds, however, a $151,000 loss in state funds over the current year (FY09) will have to be absorbed.

High winds fan wildfire
A wildfire burned about four acres off Stamper’s Bay Road on Monday near Hartfield, said Virginia State Forester Ken Sterner.
