Construction of new ‘Food Lion intersection’ begins
Motorists can expect temporary lane closures, temporary traffic patterns and construction activity at the “Food Lion intersection” of Route 17 Bypass and Route 17 Business near Saluda as work begins on an intersection improvement project.

The 2nd annual RE Strong Run 5K and 10K races and 1-mile Family Fun Run were held Saturday, April 25, at Hewick Plantation near Urbanna. The event had a total of 547 registered runners/walkers.

Middlesex Sheriff David P. Bushey graduated from the FBI National Academy at Quantico on March 20. During the 10-week course, he gained invaluable training and made good contacts with FBI staff that he said will help the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office in the future.

The Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) has released the 2015 blue crab winter dredge survey, which showed moderate improvement in the health of the stock, despite a very cold winter that killed an inordinately large number of crabs.
