“Sandwich”: Microcosm of Urbanna History
imageWe who live in Urbanna are fortunate to be living in a Colonial port town (founded in the 1680s) with “history” literally under our every foot. We learned a bit more history recently when Dr. David Brown of the Fairfield Foundation offered a program on “Sandwich” in Urbanna.


The cyst the size of a lemon
It had been 20 years since my last visit to a hospital for surgery to remove a gall bladder. A stone the size of a lima bean had nestled snugly in some unknown duct and necessitated removal. In those days a new surgery, “laparoscopy,” made the procedure quick, painless and easy with an overnight stay.


The Golden Mean
imageIt’s not easy to run for elected office or serve at any level of public office. It takes great reserves of patience, tolerance and goodwill toward one’s fellow man to serve the public. Pleasing everyone is the toughest job on earth and it’s often said that it can’t be done.


Summer, 2018
What a summer! Terrible heat, torrents of rain, a month of dry hot weather, damaged corn crops, and worse than usual mosquitoes and chiggers. But, no stinging nettles! In the midst of it all, husband Chip turned 80, quite a milestone.
