imageEach election seems to get worse. The candidates are more outrageous, lies more blatant and scandals more disgusting. The money flowing into campaigns, no longer in the hundreds of thousands, is now in the tens of millions.

The “Independence” tooted her whistle almost like a mother goose beckoning her goslings return to the ship, and we scurried back. We knew our captain kept a sharp eye on the clock and did not kindly entertain stragglers. When he said departure at a certain hour, he meant it.

imageWe found Booth Bay very similar to Bar Harbor. A tourist favorite, the town was packed with visitors and gift shops with similar merchandise. We enjoyed walking through the crowds for about 10 minutes and then wished to be back on the ship and far out to sea.

What a marvelous cruise it was turning out to be. Fellow passengers were few and interesting, coastline of Maine spectacular, ports we visited charming, weather, in spite of two rain days, perfect. And finally, the ship’s cuisine was superb. If only one didn’t have to travel to and from the ship in Portland.
