The provincial waterfront town, we who were not born here but summarily saw and fell in love with, is becoming a sophisticated, upscale community geared to welcome, entertain and accept money for wares and services from well-heeled tourists.

Double day fun at Christ Church
Last Saturday Christ Church Parish sponsored two fun events all in one day. First on the agenda was the annual fashion show card luncheon charitable fundraiser. We had been promised both “fun and elegance” when we bought tickets to the event.

Just Ducky
The last time I went to Duck, Outer Banks, North Carolina, I had to drive on a sandy path to get there. Some 40 years ago, I had met a real estate agent on a sand dune who offered me 100 feet of oceanfront property for $50,000.

Please, Mr. Bear!
All my life I have loved bears. Well, not actually loved them, but I do like them very much. Of course, I don’t personally know any bears. But they do seem pleasant enough in books.
