High hopes in Urbanna
imageThere are high hopes in Urbanna these days. The old Urbanna Inn has been purchased and is being refurbished to open soon as the Chesapeake Inn.


Pleasures of Spring
The cardinals live in the shrubs and pop their bright scarlet heads out to see if Mom has delivered any birdseed yet. She has, and they come out to dine followed by the chipping sparrows and doves. Before long the squirrels scamper down the holly tree for their share. They muscle into the sunflower seeds leaving scrap for the birds.


Tea with Mary
imageNo matter. Today was my tea party at noon, and nothing would stop me from throwing my tea leaves in Urbanna Creek. Like the U.S. Post Office that delivers mail in all kinds of weather, I would exercise my freedom of speech and right of assembly, even in a storm.


Chuck Ylonen was “Mr. Rotary”
I have most regrettably reached the age in life that when I go away for a few weeks on vacation, I know that upon return, someone that I cared very much for will have passed away. It happens every time I leave town. I guess this phenomenon comes with age.
