One Woman's Opinion

Order Mary Buxton’s books
imageLife and love in the rural tidewater area of Virginia is a common thread that runs through nearly all of Mary Wakefield Buxton's books. The push and pull of old and new, North and South, man and woman, life and death, are discovered, illuminated and reflected upon in each of them. Such is the heart and soul of a writer.

Please, Mr. Bear!
imageAll my life I have loved bears. Well, not actually loved them, but I do like them very much. Of course, I don’t personally know any bears. But they do seem pleasant enough in books.

Planning for the big bad wolf
In the front hall awaiting me was a thick, yellow envelope labeled “Death Instructions.” If that wasn’t enough shock, when I turned on my computer 40 email attachments were waiting for me with copies of important papers that Chip had sent me just in case he “didn’t make it.”

Behind the Scenes
I discovered several new corridors in my brain that weren’t so easy to enter. “Keep out! This means you!” was the message plainly posted on the doors of such inner passages.

Knee Replacement
imageOne of this summer’s experiences was helping husband Chip get through knee replacement surgery. After limping for several years trying to ignore pain, he finally scheduled surgery for August. Dr. David Muron with Riverside Walter Reed Hospital was the surgeon.
