Former patient leaves generous contribution
imageUpon her death last fall, Elizabeth Barnhardt Sanders left a $250,000 endowment to the Rappahannock General Hospital Foundation to help provide medical care to those who can’t afford it. “Mrs. Sanders’ gift is really an amazing act of kindness and we are grateful beyond words,” Tom Baker said.

Marking the John Smith trail
imageThe buoy is one of several buoys recently installed throughout the Chesapeake Bay to mark the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail. The buoy also collects weather, oceanographic and water-quality observations.

Urbanna wants fewer slips at proposed marina
The town council’s letter has requested that the permit application be modified to have a maximum of 78 slips, which is less than the 86 slips the marina currently has on Urbanna Creek.

Adding fame to the name: John Smith play
