LMVFD open house a success
Last Saturday the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department held an open house for the community to come and see the new renovations and additions to the fire department.
Middlesex YMCA: Children’s Garden and more
The Middlesex Family YMCA Children’s Garden has now been planted and some of the first seeds have sprouted. “The youth have been amazed with the transformation from seed to crop,” said one of the Christchurch School volunteers. “I am looking forward to coming back this summer and seeing the garden in bloom.”
Bank of Lancaster buys hotel & old DG building
The Bank of Lancaster now owns the Liberty at Compass Quay Hotel on Urbanna Creek, and the building that formerly housed Dollar General Store at 202 Virginia Street in Urbanna.
Both properties were auctioned on May 7 at a trustee’s sale in front of the Middlesex County Courthouse.
Deadline is Friday to enter ‘Miss RivahFest’
This year there are even more opportunities for kids to take the stage at this year’s RivahFest on Saturday, June 19, in Tappahannock. In addition to the always-popular RivahFest Idol contest for singers ages 12-18, organizers announce the addition of a pageant for kids ages 0-18 and the crowning of the first-ever Miss RivahFest.
Arts Alive presents the “Hunt Family Fiddlers”
Arts Alive will present the last performance of its 2009-10 concert season series with the “Hunt Family Fiddlers” from Chesapeake taking the stage Saturday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at the Robinson/Olsson Auditorium at West Point High School.
