Urbanna Christmas House Tours Saturday and Sunday
The public is invited to experience the “wonderful life” of historic Urbanna at its annual Christmas House Tour on Saturday, December 6, and another tour on Sunday, December 7.
Free rescue squad service has its costs
During the Urbanna Oyster Festival, the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad set up a temporary “emergency room,” complete with doctors and nurses, at the rescue squad building, reported Urbanna Town Administrator Lewis Filling, who also is a squad driver.

Dize’s family had been through the August Storm of 1933 and their home had been flooded. “We left Tangier on the last day of September at 1:30 p.m. and came across the bay,” he said. “When we came into Urbanna Creek the next morning, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven.”
Tour ‘Iva W.’ Saturday at the Maritime Museum
Seventy-seven years of working boat history will be open to the public at the Deltaville Maritime Museum this Saturday, Nov. 29. The 60-foot “Iva W.” built in 1929 as a buyboat by John Wright for Captain Johnny Ward of Deltaville, and restored and converted in 1998 as a floating “Bed and Breakfast,” will be available for tours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
