‘The Reapers’ to perform at St. Clare Walker

If so, or even if you are too young to remember this thrilling age of pop music, you need to attend the “Cyrus McCormick and the Reapers” concert in the St. Clare Walker Middle School auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26. The concert is sponsored by the Middlesex Public Library.
Library children’s reading program begins June 25
“Make a Splash! Dive into Books!” is the theme of the Summer Reading Club Program at the Middlesex Public Library this summer. Participants will explore the wonderful world of water: oceans, lakes, rivers and wetlands; weather, the water cycle and ecology; pirates; animals that live in and around water; and much more.
Hank Norton: A life of football and fly-fishing
Football and fishing are the only two things on Hank Norton’s mind when I meet him for an interview. From being a high school football coach at Powhatan County High School in the 1950s to heading the football coaching staff at Ferrum College for 34 years, Norton is an expert on the ins and outs of the game.
School field trip goes to Deltaville Maritime Museum
The Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park hosted its first school field trip on Friday. “The museum did a great job of planning for the field trip,” said first grade teacher Beaton Healy. “It was a really good review of things we’ve learned throughout the year.”
