Water View Independence Day Celebration has grown considerably since its humble start in 1985

While still a very rural area, the community of Water View has seen its Independence Day Celebration continue to grow year after year.
House is now gone, but memories still vivid
For 87 years the Hodges family house had stood as a landmark at the intersection of Routes 615 and 616 between Urbanna and Saluda. But the old house had deteriorated badly over the past 17 years and, for safety reasons, family members decided to tear it down earlier this year on April 8.

“Betty was born in Water View and has been visiting or living in this community all of her life,” said auxiliary treasurer Cathy Russell. “She has been a big supporter of the fire department. “She always brings large groups of people to our dinners and she offers to help in any way she can,”
