“Thanks to all the parents and grandparents who brought their kids and grandkids out for this event,” said an event spokesperson. “The younger kids got to color pictures dealing with escaping from their house in case of a fire, and the older kids made and colored pictures about ‘Stop Drop and Roll.’”
Maritime Museum offers cruises aboard ‘Lillian B.’
Expanding their offerings to the public to experience both the past and “living” maritime history of the Chesapeake Bay, the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park announced this week it will offer a series of free cruises to preview the beginning of their “Deltaville Maritime Museum Discovery Cruises.”

A veteran of 19 European tours, the Kennedy Center Millennium stage, and a personal favorite of actor Bruce Willis, wide-open blues and National Steel slide player Virginia-based Terry Garland will bring his personal arrangements of blues standards and gritty originals to “Groovin’ in the Park” on Saturday, August 28, from 6-8 p.m.

The Deltaville Farmers’ Market ends its summer season in style this Saturday, August 28, with all the vendors pulling out the stops to make this the best market of the summer. Opening at 9 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m., the Middle Peninsula’s “Premier Farmer’s Market” is now its fastest growing as well.
‘Firefighters for Education’ event this Saturday
The Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) will host a “Firefighters for Education” event on Saturday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The goal of this event is to educate the community on fire prevention and safety and, at the same time, get students excited about education and going back to school.
