Thirteen seek title of Oyster Festival Queen
The selection of the Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen is a long-standing tradition that dates back to 1960, the year before Urbanna Days became the Urbanna Oyster Festival. The first Festival Queen was crowned on a flatbed trailer on the day of the festival.
Antique boat show is in Reedville Saturday
The 7th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show will be held at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, on Saturday, September 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mathews Market Days set for September 10-11
The 36th annual Mathews Market Days festival will take place in historic downtown Mathews on Friday and Saturday, September 10-11. The festival will showcase about 90 booths displaying local arts and crafts, food items and many locally-made products.
Oyster Gardeners training September 18
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) needs volunteer oyster gardeners living on the Northern Neck or Middle Peninsula to grow oysters alongside docks for restoration and return them next year to be planted on sanctuary oyster reefs in local waterways.
