Memories of Remlik Wharf
Agnes Brown Miller was born in 1909 and grew up a short distance from Remlik Steamboat Wharf at the end of Lord Mott Road. Her childhood memories include the old Nelson Hotel, the daily arrival of steamboats to the wharf, and Urbanna’s Regal Theater that featured silent movies.
Crowning of Oyster Festival Queen set for Nov. 6
As the Oyster Festival evolved over the years, so has the selection of the Queen and Little Miss Spat. It originally was a type of beauty pageant, but is now a scholarship competition for the Queen contestants, who also must complete a community service project.
‘Middlesex Memories’ to be published Nov. 1
Beginning Nov. 1, Rap-pahannock Press in Urbanna will have available “Middlesex Memories,” the latest book of Urbanna author and columnist Mary Wakefield Buxton. This is Buxton’s 11th book.
Deltaville Farmers’ Market to feature 30 exhibitors
The Deltaville Farmers’ Market will be Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holly Point Nature Park at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. As many as 30 exhibitors are expected, offering everything from fresh produce and fine art to oyster floats.
