Re-enactors to be part of Civil War Family Day
imageCivil War re-enactors are coming to Historic Christ Church in Weems as part of a Civil War Family Day on Saturday, July 13. Members of “Voices of Freedom,” a group of living historians from Gloucester led by Dr. Wesley Wilson and Chauncey Herring, will be on site from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Basketry artist to be featured in Gloucester
imageAfter retiring from teaching in the mid-1990s, Jean Koon found she had a neighbor who did Nantucket style baskets and gave Koon her first lesson in basket weaving. This ignited her passion for basketry and she has never looked back.

‘Wildman’ and ‘Bad Ace’ to perform at Donk’s
Richard Smith, who is affectionately known as “Wildman” because of his unequalled talent as a drummer and energetic singer, will take the stage at Donk’s Theater in Mathews on Saturday, July 6, with the “Bad Ace” band.

Entries being accepted for Urbanna Boat Parade
The Urbanna Independence Day Celebration will be held on Friday, July 5, at the Urbanna Town Marina on Urbanna Creek. Festivities start at 5 p.m. with a DJ providing music. Food will be available from the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department.
