Longtime leader Pat Perkinson dies at age 84
Patricia (Pat) Royal Perkinson, 84, of “Prospect” in Topping, former Secretary of the Commonwealth and press aide to Governor Mills E. Godwin Jr., passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010. A longtime civic leader in Middlesex County, Mrs. Perkinson was born July 18, 1925 at “Clifton,” her ancestral home on the Dragon Run.
Cryers named ‘Pride of Middlesex’ for 2010
Middlesex Rotarians have named Linda and Dave Cryer the “Pride of Middlesex” for 2010. The Cryers will join a lengthening list of exceptional citizens recognized annually for exemplifying the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Concert to feature renowned pianist
Internationally-renowned pianist Rudolf Budginas will perform at the Mathews High School auditorium Sunday, February 21, at 3 p.m. Tickets for this performance are $25 at the door. Youth are admitted free.
Museum’s black history presentation is Thursday
The Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society will hold a living history presentation Thursday, February 18, at 7 p.m. at the historic courthouse in Saluda. Rashard J. Wright will bring to life the person and work of the county’s beloved and well-known educator, John Henry St. Clare Walker, in celebration of Black History Month.
