Local author, Brad Parks, to release 2nd novel
Parks will unveil his book during a reception at Christchurch School in the Bishop Brown Boardroom at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 3. Light refreshments will be served. On Saturday, February 5, Parks will be at Twice Told Tales in Gloucester from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. to read from and discuss his new work.
Former teacher and coach is new YMCA program director
Kai Evans, the new program director for the Middlesex Family YMCA, has a wealth of experience working with youth. Evans comes to the Middlesex YMCA from the Northern Neck Family YMCA where for the past two years he was associate director of childcare and family programs, a full-time position.
Museum announces raffle of Wright skiff
The limited ticket raffle of a 14-foot Wright skiff is being held by the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park. Proceeds from this pre-season raffle will help fund the museum Boatshop and its ongoing preservation and presentation of working watercraft construction techniques.
Red Cross plans CPR class for area residents
According to the American Red Cross, one quarter of Americans say they’ve been in a situation where someone needed CPR. “If you were one of them, would you know what to do?” asked Dr. David Markinson, a Red Cross advisory council chair. “Emergencies are more common than most of us know."
