‘Dreamscapes’ art exhibit opens Friday in Urbanna
The first new art exhibit of 2015 will open at Urbanna Harbor Gallery on Friday, January 16. The one-man show, titled “Dreamscapes,” features oil painter Lawrence Hollingsworth, currently of Gloucester but a native of Norfolk.
Buxton to discuss the relationship of trauma and art
Urbanna columnist and author Mary Wakefield Buxton will be a guest of the Northumberland Public Library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, in Heathsville. Buxton will speak on the subject of her latest novel, “The Private War of William Styron,” and her personal relationship with and inspiration of Pulitzer Prize winning author William Styron.
‘Road to Memphis Fundraiser’ raises $1,428 for local singer
On New Year’s Day, nearly a hundred people gathered at Something Different restaurant in Urbanna for a private concert featuring two amazing bands at a sold-out fund-raising event.
Maritime museum closes temporarily to reset
The Deltaville Maritime Museum is closing temporarily during the month of January to do the “dirty work” necessary to reset the inside of the museum and begin the installation of new exhibits. The doors should reopen by the end of the month but watch the Sentinel and the museum website for progress reports and reopening dates.
