Youth rally signup deadline is March 10
The Prevention Services Division of the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board is sponsoring the 6th Annual Rural Virginia United Coalition R.A.L.L.Y. (Resilient Adults Leading Local Youth).
The R.A.L.L.Y will be on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gloucester High School. The doors will open at 9 a.m.
This free prevention conference is for 600 middle and high school youth (ages 11-18) and adults in Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland counties.
The primary focus of the R.A.L.L.Y. is to empower youth with tools for life. The R.A.L.L.Y. experience is a memorable one that promotes positive and healthy lifestyle choices. Together we have the power to make a difference in the lives of youth in our communities of the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.
The conferences opening activity is a Multi-Media Assemblies (MMA) presentation that inspires youth through contemporary media programs to reach their full potential by taking charge of their life and becoming determined in their choices. “Every person writes their own story in life. And most of our life is still unwritten. That means that the opportunities for a great story still exist,” according to Multi Media Assemblies.
Also, back by popular demand is Eddie Slowikowski. This keynote speaker ignites excitement and enthusiasm in everyone who hears him. His presentation is supercharged with music, dance, and a deep reaching message for people of all ages. This interactive presentation will be sure to have the youth up on their feet dancing, laughing and singing while learning valuable life lessons and truths.
Lunch, tee shirts and sports bags will also be provided to each participant.
The R.A.L.L.Y. is partially grant-funded through the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Virginia Department of Health Tobacco Use Control Project.
All youth are encouraged to attend this free event. A registration form can be downloaded and printed from http://www.rvuc.com. The forms can be faxed to 758-9158 or mailed to RVUC, P.O. Box 130, Saluda, VA 23149. Each individual (youth or adult) planning to attend needs to be registered.
