YMCA continues signup for fall soccer

The Middlesex Family YMCA is excited to announce that soccer registration has opened for the fall season. This year the season will begin earlier and will last until through the Oyster Festival. All teams will have a minimum of eight games and the goal is to have all games played in Middlesex.

The ages for the soccer league will be 3 to 18. Ages will be divided up into five different age groups to ensure the safety of the youth. The divisions are ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-15, and 16-18. All teams will practice once per week and will have games mostly on Saturday mornings and early afternoons.

“My goal this season is to have over 100 youth in the 9-11 division so we can play all the games at home,” said Clark Laster, YMCA program director. “However, we will still play surrounding counties in the tournaments.”

The cost of the program is $30 for members and $50 for program participants. With the program and with the Guardian Scholarship Fund, individuals are eligible to get financial assistance to ensure their child can play in the league. The cost of the league covers the uniform, socks, shorts and all the soccer balls needed for the program. Furthermore, the season ends with a banquet for all the youth where they will see a slideshow, receive awards, and celebrate the season.

The Middlesex YMCA also has programs throughout the summer. The day camp program lasts from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The cost of the program is $80 for members and $95 for program participants. Like all programs there is financial assistance that helps ensure that all youth can take part in the program.
