The William and Mary Lower Northern Neck Alumni Chapter, which includes Northumberland, Lancaster and Middlesex counties, held its annual family picnic on July 26, at the Deltaville Maritime Museum.
The event was fun for attendees of all ages, which ranged from 2 months to 90-plus years.
The picnic was preceded by a special tour offered by alumna Duanne Hawkins of the John Barber exhibit currently at the museum, and was followed by the museum’s Groovin’ in the Park concert featuring singer/songwriters Robbin Thompson and Steve Bassett.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said chapter president Susan Wayland ’68, “since it encourages families to participate in a relaxed and laid-back summertime atmosphere.”
The picnic was planned by Carol T. Hughes ’68, who worked with the museum staff to provide a delicious meal in dry (avoiding the thunderstorms) and air-conditioned comfort.
