The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts (RFA) will present the Virginia Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, March 29.

Ticket holders are invited to attend a pre-concert lecture by VSO music director JoAnn Falletta at 1:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 2:30 p.m. Both the lecture and concert will be held at the Lancaster Middle School Theater in Kilmarnock.

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra program, sponsored by Dunton, Simmons & Dunton, is the final presentation of the RFA 2008-09 On Stage series.

On October 17, the RFA will kick off its 2009-2010 On Stage series with a lively performance by The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra. All shows will be held at Lancaster Middle School. Brochures listing the 2009-2010 On Stage season will be mailed out shortly. Information can also be found on the RFA website, http://www.rappahannockfoundation.org.

Recognized as one of the nation’s leading regional symphony orchestras, the Virginia Symphony has enriched the cultural life of the Hampton Roads community for more than eight decades.

Recent great achievements of the Virginia Symphony under the baton of music director JoAnn Falletta include five compact disc recordings for national release, a performance of “Peter and the Wolf,” which was aired on National Public Radio, and groundbreaking performances at the Kennedy Center and New York’s Carnegie Hall.

The Virginia Symphony annually performs more than 140 classical, pops, family, education and outreach concerts, including orchestral support of the acclaimed Virginia Opera, Virginia Arts Festival, and Virginia Ballet.
