Urbanna seeking entries for July 3 boat parade

The Town of Urbanna and Urbanna Business Association plan the following events in July.
On Friday, July 3, the town will celebrate Independence Day with several activities at the Urbanna Town Marina at Upton’s Point on Urbanna Creek. At 6 p.m. the Sheriff’s Auxiliary will begin selling food, and music will be by DJ Charlie Culley. The Annual Boat Parade will be at 6:30 p.m. on Urbanna Creek, and fireworks over the creek will follow.
Those who want to enter a decorated boat in the parade, register before June 30. To register and to receive your boat’s number, please see Connie at the Urbanna Pool or Dianne at the town marina.
Virginia Street from the corner of Cross Street down to hill to the town marina, including Oyster Road, will be closed from 5 p.m. until after the fireworks on July 3.
Handicapped persons should notify the deputies at the top of the hill for arrangements.
On Saturday, July 4, join the Urbanna Business Association Special Events Committee and the Town of Urbanna at Taber Park for an Old-Fashioned Family Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a variety of activities for families to enjoy.
On Saturday, July 11, the Urbanna Farmers’ Market will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Southside Sentinel parking lot at 276 Virginia Street.
On Saturday, July 18, the Music Under the Stars concert series in Taber Park will feature “Jumbo Lump Daddy & the Backfin Boys” from 7 to 9 p.m. Picnic setups will begin at 6 p.m. Bring blankets and/or lawn chairs.
On July 31 through August 1 there will be a buyboat gathering at the Urbanna Town Marina at Upton Point on Urbanna Creek.
